5th Nani Palkhivala Memorial Research Paper Competition, 2009

The MCA has received an invitation from the Government Law College, Mumbai requesting participation in the 5th Nani Palkhivala Memorial Research Paper Competition, 2009. It is jointly organised by the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners(AIFTP) and theIncome Tax AppellateTribunal(ITAT) Bar Association with the Government Law College Mumbai.

The Topic for the research paper is -

"Transfer pricing Regulation - Confluence and Conflict between India, OECD and other countries - comparative study"
-Associated Enterprises
-Scope - International Transaction
-Method of Computation of ALP
-Record Keeping
-Suggestion for either to improve

Students may refer to the following Publications as guidelines for the Research Paper:

5.Transfer Pricing by CCH Deloitte Team

Participants are free to contact any lawyers or Chartered Accountants.
The top three papers of the competition shall be given cash prizes and certificates of merit.

Since every college may only send two entries and each article may be co-authored by a maximum of two authors there will be an internal shortlisting to select two papers that would represent the University. All interested participants may register with the MCA by sending an e-mail to mca.nliu@gmail.com. The subject should read - Registration - 5th Nani Palkhivala Memorial Research Paper Competition.

The papers, .doc or .pdf format, are to be submitted to the MCA by 20th of October 5:00 PM by email. Two papers will be selected by a committee specially constituted for this purpose.
Participation is open to all students and not just members of any Moot Pool.

The Jus Cultura Magazine Initiative

This is to inform that the Literary Society, Jus Cultura is coming up with an online & print magazine reflecting the campus events and life at NLIU. We invite active participation from the NLIU student community with respect to the same.

We are looking for the following forms of contributions:
  • Poetry
  • Comic Strips
  • Book/Movie/Music reviews.
  • Short stories, Travelogues, and other formal kinds of creative writing.
  • Opinion polls about various issues, On and off campus, serious or just for fun.
  • Cartoons depicting Campus life.
  • Comments/Quips about ongoing campus activities.
  • Serious/ sarcasm - induced articles about current issues/random stuff/legal or socio-political issues, especially in a View-Counterview format.
  • Agony Aunt Columns.
  • Opinionnaires - informal, random questions and witty answers to the same by the students.
  • Reports about events on Campus.
  • Designs for the magazine covers.
Any ideas or suggestions are also welcome. The only criteria for the writing pieces are that they should be creative, interesting, and fun to read.

III NLIU Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2009


The Moot Court Association, National Law Institute University, proudly announces that it shall be hosting the Third NLIU Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2009 at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. The details regardingthe competition are as follows:


  • The competition will take place during 23rd - 25th October, 2009.

  • All colleges, Universities and Faculties of Law are invited to participate in the competition.

  • Registration is limited and at a First Come First Serve basis.

  • Registration closes at 5 PM on the 25th of September, 2009.

  • Teams may register by sending an email to mca.tankha@gmail.com with their particulars.
